What a friend we have in Jesus (Music)

What a friend we have in Jesus,
all our sins and griefs to bear!

What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
all because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer. Read the rest of this entry »

Qur’an burning – Protester shot dead

Fsarzneh Mansoori, an Afghan parliamentary candidate, kisses a copy of the Koran at a mosque before her speech during her campaign in Herat, western Afghanistan September 7, 2010. Taliban threats, shuttered polling centres and warnings of widespread fraud are clouding hopes for Afghanistan's Sept. 18 parliamentary election, a key test of an already fragile democracy, observers have warned. Go Compare…

To whom, then, will you compare God? What image will you compare him to?

Isaiah 40:18

Comparisons, we make them all the time. Most of us comparing options on a daily basis. This weekend we seem to have been faced with a raft of choices that such comparisons invariably bring.

What vehicle should replace our thirsty silver machine? A smart diesel, or small hatchback. Outwardly they’re different, but… > more.

Honour God With Your Bodies

By lambskinny. Do you not know that your body is a shrine of the indwelling Holy Spirit, and the Spirit is God’s gift to you?

You do not belong to yourselves; you are bought at a price. Then honour God in your body.”
Paul wishes persons to control themselves and remain unmarried; but he recognizes that self-control is difficult and that it is “better [to] be married than burn with vain desire.” (1 Corinthians 7: 9)

God really is the answer

Peace, harmony, and righteousness can only happen through submission, forgiveness, and humility at the cost of control, fairness and honor.

As humans we crave and fight for control, fairness and honor to get peace, harmony and righteousness. Often this fight is couched in the terms of fairness or equality. God pursues peace, harmony and righteousness through submission, forgiveness, and humility. We demand our rights, God gave them up. > more.

Iran ‘digging mass graves for US troops’ in case of invasion

EDITORS' NOTE: Reuters and other foreign media are subject to Iranian restrictions on leaving the office to report, film or take pictures in Tehran. Iran has dug mass graves in which to bury US troops if America attacks the country, a former commander of the elite Revolutionary Guard has said.

The digging of the graves appears to be a show of bravado after the chairman of the US joint chiefs of staff, Admiral Mike Mullen, said last week that the US military had a contingency plan to attack Iran, although he thought a military strike was probably a bad idea. > more.

US Professor turn from Atheism to find more answers in Christianity

“Smart people don’t become Christians,” she thought, according to Biola University.

Her worldview, however, began to change at age 31. She recounts her journey from atheism to Christianity in the recently released Not God’s Type: A Rational Academic Finds a Radical Faith.

“It is no light matter to meet God after having denied Him all one’s life,” she writes in the book. “Coming to Him was only the beginning. I can point to a day and time and place of my conversion, and yet since then I have come to understand that He calls me to a fresh conversion every day.” > more.

God’s Boxes.

I have in my hands two boxes,
Which God gave me to hold.
He said,
“Put all your sorrows in the black box,
And all your joys in the gold.”

I heeded His words, and in the two boxes,
Both my joys and sorrows I stored,
