Playing hide-and-seek by God’s rules

Anyone who has children, works with children, or has ever been in a waiting room at the doctor’s office knows that sometimes children use the nag tactic to get what they want when they want it.

If any of the aforementioned criteria applies to you, you know…  more>>

Pope Benedict XVI helds the weekly general audience-Vatican

America chose Obama

obama-barack-obama-fl“Well, here we are on the other side. A watershed moment. An historic election. And we, the American people, have made our choice. –  Barack Obama will be the 44th President of the United States, and the nation’s first black president. And in elections across the country, Democrats won their seats in the Senate. When Obama takes office in January, he will do so with a Democratic majority in both houses of Congress.” > more.

Does God allow hard things?

There are times when life is hard, and answers are few.  When situations happen that challenge the core of who we are and what we believe.  When doubts plague our minds and trouble our souls. We ask where is God and will he meet the needs of my life.  Will he reach down and stop my suffering? We want the pain to stop and we want answers to our hard questions — NOW!” > more.

Cry for help from Orissa (India)

Here is a mail that reached me this morning and that made me very concerned. How would I be in such a situation? Even so brave as my friend or helpless and desperate. The measure of people bringing together, to give help to Orissa, is a courageous measure of my friend in such a situation in which some 100 people were killed and in the meantime 13,000 Christians are living in refugee camps and many other Christians are submerged. Many have fled into the jungle.

Psalm 147 Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God; For it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful. 2 The Lord builds up Jerusalem; He gathers together the outcasts of Israel. 3 He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds. 4 He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name. 5 Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His und […]
  • A different kind of Mormon
It seems that there are Mormons, and then there are MORMONS, or so I’ve heard. Then, my friend says, there are “different kinds of Mormons.” This past week I talked to a friend whom I haven’t seen since 2008. I love this friend — we struggled through some very trying times together, and we learned much about ourselves and one another during the years when we […]
  • Sacred Space
It seems that most people are fully occupied in mind and body for at least six full days each week. Up early and late to bed, multi-tasking all the way through. Then comes Sunday. A day historically and culturally set aside for rest. For many, it is a day of spiritual rest. For others, it is a day to walk the dog, spend time at the beach, wake up late and si […]

A post about nothing much. So I’m struggling a little in work. I can’t settle. I have one eye perpetually on alternatives and of course, now that I’m working, there are suddenly interviews and little side-projects aplenty. Of course there are…famine or feast, eh? It’s only now that I am back to work and have something with which to contrast my office that I […]
