Is your relationship doomed? Test may tell

A new test can predict whether or not a relationship will last, researchers say.

The test uses a word association task often employed to assess racism and bias to reveal what partners really think about each other, even if they don’t realize it.

Most previous research on relationship success has focused on directly asking couples how they feel about one another. > more.

Frank Fenner: No hope for humans

Frank Fenner doesn’t engage in the skirmishes of the climate wars. To him, the evidence of global warming is in. Our fate is sealed.

“We’re going to become extinct,” the eminent scientist says. “Whatever we do now is too late.”

Fenner is an authority on extinction. The emeritus professor in microbiology at the Australian National University played a leading role in sending one species into oblivion: the variola virus that causes smallpox. > more.

We must choose not to isolate…

TODAY’S VERSE. “But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.” Hebrews 3:13 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT. God made us for fellowship. It is wired into our brain. We need God and other people. Relationships play a pivotal role in our Christianity. We must attune ourselves to God and to each other. If we don’t, then we isolate. And when we isolate, we start > more.

  • A different kind of Mormon
It seems that there are Mormons, and then there are MORMONS, or so I’ve heard. Then, my friend says, there are “different kinds of Mormons.” This past week I talked to a friend whom I haven’t seen since 2008. I love this friend — we struggled through some very trying times together, and we learned much about ourselves and one another during the years when we […]

It seems that most people are fully occupied in mind and body for at least six full days each week. Up early and late to bed, multi-tasking all the way through. Then comes Sunday. A day historically and culturally set aside for rest. For many, it is a day of spiritual rest. For others, it is a day to walk the dog, spend time at the beach, wake up late and si […]
